理学院学术报告通知

    应兰州理工大学理学院邀请，受学校红柳学科“高水平学术交流基金”资助，美国Ohio State University终身教授、国家千人计划入选者楼元教授，将于2015年9月14日-2015年9月17日到我校进行学术交流并做专题学术报告。
    报告题目：Cross-diffusion models in population dynamics Abstract:  Cross-diffusion system is an important class of reaction-diffusion problems. At the individual level, the basic underlying assumption for cross-diffusion is that the transition probability only depends upon departure conditions, e.g., population density and environmental condition at the departure location. We will discuss the Shigesada-Kawasaki-Teromoto model for two competing species. This talk is based on joint works with Wei-Ming Ni, Michael Winkler, Shoji Yotsutani.

　楼元教授简介：　
    楼元教授于1988年获得北京大学学士学位，1991年获得北京大学理学硕士学位，1995年毕业于University of Minnesota并获博士学位。1995年-1998年在Berkeley以及Univ of Chicago从事博士后研究等工作，1998年至今任教于Ohio State University。2008年起为该校教授，2009年至今担任Mathematical Biosciences Institute副所长，并入选国家千人计划（中国人民大学）。研究方向为偏微分方程、生物数学，在《Comm Pure Appl Math》，《SIAM J Math Anal》，《J Math Biol》, 《J Differential Equations》，《Discrete Contin Dyn Syst》,《Bull Math Biol》，《J Theoret Biol》等国际顶尖杂志上发表学术论文70余篇并被同行引用多次。
    楼元教授的研究工作获得多项科学基金资助并应邀在多次重要国际会议做大会报告。同时他也在多个国家和地区组织过十余次的学术会议。由于楼元教授的杰出成就，他自2009年起应邀担任《Discrete Cont. Dynamical System-B》主编，并为《SIAM J Appl Math》、《J Differential Equations》、《Mathematical Biosciences and Engineering》、《J Math Anal Appl》等四种国际著名学术期刊编委。
